Dear Marvel and Sony: Where’s Our Miles Morales Live Action Movie? And About Spider-Verse 3- The People Demand Answers (And By ‘The People, I Mean Me)

4 min read

Alright now, listen up, Marvel and Sony. It’s me, Jahlil Donald. I’m an actor, a model, and a lifelong Spider-Man fan who is starting to get a little impatient. And by a little, I mean a lot. Because seriously, how long are you gonna make us wait for another Miles Morales movie?

We all remember the magic of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) – that incredible animation, the music, and that suit. Miles Morales flipped the superhero genre on its head, showed kids of all colors they could be heroes, and gave us a story as rich as it was revolutionary. You’d think after an Oscar-winning animated film and the critical success of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), a second movie would be a given. But here we are, still waiting. What’s up with that?

Miles Morales isn’t just your “another” Spider-Man. He’s the Spider-Man for a new generation. He’s a Brooklyn kid, half Black, half Puerto Rican, who’s got style, heart, and smarts, all while juggling family and all the chaos of being Spidey. For fans like me – someone who grew up imagining what it’d be like to see a superhero that looked like me – Miles represents something incredibly powerful. This teen got flavor and swag that Peter Parker can’t touch. No shade to Peter, but it’s the truth!

And let’s not even talk about the possibility of a live-action Miles Morales. Actually, scratch that – let’s talk about it, because the not only the Marvel fandom is ready, the world is ready. I’m ready! In fact, I’m free right now. I’ve been told I can rock the Spidey suit (who’s shocked?) and bring that energy to the big screen. Imagine me swinging through Atlanta… I mean, New York, but let’s be real – Spidey could use a Southern stop sometime, right? The live-action Miles Morales we all need is out there, just waiting to happen. And Marvel, Sony – you could save your time and just cast me, you know?

But seriously, let’s get back to the business. Miles’ story is special. Unlike most superheroes, Miles doesn’t come from wealth or privilege. He’s got this raw, street-smart wisdom, a close-knit family, and a real connection to his heritage. He’s not some billionaire or Norse god – he’s just a kid who wants to do right by his city and his people. That’s what makes him relatable. Miles reminds us that anyone can be a hero, no matter their background or ZIP code.

The Spider-Verse movies set the bar so high with animation, storytelling, and representation that not giving us the trilogy we deserve feels like a crime. Come on, Sony and Marvel, y’all know what happens when you get us hyped and then leave us hanging. You don’t think we’re checking our phones every day, waiting for news of a trailer or release date? I bet you think we’re all calm and patient about this. Newsflash: we’re not.

So here’s my humble suggestion. Greenlight Spider-Verse 3, go all out, make it bigger, bolder, and even more Miles-tastic than before. And when you start looking for a live-action Miles Morales? I’ll be here in Atlanta, ready to make some movie magic.

Marvel, Sony, call me. The people – my people, your people – are waiting.
